Hi guys! My name is Steven Foster-Aileru - welcome to my blog 'I Am Not A Gardener', an ongoing adventure of how to garden on a shoestring budget.

You may be thinking why have you created a blog about gardening claiming you're not a gardener??... well because I'm not (kind of). I am just a regular creative guy, who found peace and joy in the serenity of gardening. It allows me to create something from nothing and literally watch it grow into something beautiful.

Don't get me wrong, sometimes it is hard graft and you really don't want to be outside (particularly with the British summer), however the feeling of accomplishment at the end is a great reward for the hours put in. 

The journey you see begins way back in 2014 and you may be thinking 'why not just pay someone to do this all in a week and be done with it'. For me it is about the process, enjoyment and straight up lack of finances to pay for a beautiful garden immediately. So along the way I will give you various tips and tricks I've learnt on how to save money in your garden too.

When I started I wasn't willing to accept the fact that I really enjoyed gardening, as it's not exactly the typical hobby of a 20 something year old guy from London. As time went by I became more comfortable with the fact that I really connect with designing the exterior space, and learning about soil types and perennials was just a by-product of that.

So that's why I'm not a gardener, but kind of am and this blog is a tale of my continuing  journey into discovering a new passion.
