Happy New Year Everybody!! Obama is president, Mayweather is scheduled to fight Pacquiao, Kate Middleton is pregnant with her second child and Prince is still alive... life is good; the year is 2015.
No I didn't slip into a time machine or recently get dementia, I'm talking about the return of my gardening tale. We left you in 2014 at the beginning of my journey and now we're here, back in the garden the following Spring. Two minor issues to address:
1. I moved to Brighton with my girlfriend, which will majorly affect how much I can get done in the garden over the coming years
2. The giant hole I dug flooded...
I literally had a luxurious, family sized, mud brown swimming pool in my garden which was not at all planned on. It wasn't necessarily helped by the fact we had a particularly wet winter, but all that rain water had not drained through my rock solid clay soil. Fully demoralised, let's just say there are no pictures of this stage of the process as it was horrible. It didn't smell very nice either. I put off going out there for a while as I had no idea how I was gonna drain this mud pool in any orderly fashion. I ended up going back to basics, grabbed a fork and a bucket, poked a few holes in the ground and scooped out as much water as I could with my mum. This led to a slippery sludge, which I then proceeded to cover and soak up with newspaper. Knowing it is biodegradable I felt like it was a good solution for at least getting it to not look like I'd just been mud wrestling with Porky Pig. It worked for the most part and allowed me to walk on the area more freely. The only thing left to do was dig up the last portion of grass which had previously been left as a pathway to the shed. In the words of a recently hospitalised pig I know...
Th-th-th-that's all, folks
Happy New Year guys!! (I hope to post more frequently in 2018 and be a lot more active on social media *fingers crossed*)
